GREECE for Spring Break

For spring break, we spent eight days in Greece, four in Paros, four in Santorini, and it ended up being one of my favorite trips of the whole semester.

Paros felt almost untouched because we went in off season. I’m pretty sure we were the only tourists on the island. We stayed on a quieter side, and there were literally two restaurants open, but it weirdly made the trip even better. Because it was so calm, we actually got to know some of the locals and those random little conversations ended up being some of the best parts. We spent the days walking around, eating insanely fresh food, and sitting by the water with no real schedule. It was slow in the best way.

Santorini was a bit more lively, but still nothing like peak tourist season. The streets weren’t crowded, and we never had to fight for a sunset spot or wait in line to get into places. We rented a car while we were there, which was one of the best decisions we made. It let us explore the island on our own time, like beach hopping, stopping at little villages, and pulling over any time we saw a good view (which was like every five minutes).

Both islands had their own vibe, but what they had in common was how peaceful they felt. After weeks of city trips and moving fast, this one actually felt like a break. Greece just had this calmness to it — the kind where you forget what time it is and don’t really care.

It didn’t feel like a typical spring break trip, and I’m really glad it wasn’t. No huge crowds, no packed schedule, just sun, ocean, and actually slowing down for a bit.
